If you are new to Travian it may seem that you have the world against you, well yep you are correct, you will be attacked, beaten and farmed into oblivion unless you take a few precautions when building your village, even doing that someone may just take a dislike to you and zero pop your village just for the fun of it.

Don't worry most players will need a reason to dish out grief at your expense for no benefit for themselves but you can expect to get repeatedly attacked if you give the attacker resources.

When you start out your main aim is to get many resources to build your village so build up your resource fields as quickly as you can, do not expand your warehouse or granary yet, instead use your resources as soon as they become available, If you become under attack regularly build a cranny to cover your resources at max capacity.

Eventually you will need to build your granary and warehouse to allow you to increase your building sizes, before doing this build a cranny or increase its size if you already have one, ensure the cranny can protect about 1/3 more resources than you can hold in your granary, this will ensure that a raid from Teuton neighbours can not steal any of your resources, if they don't get anything they are unlikely to keep attacking.

I little tip, if you become under attack regularly send the attacker an IGM (In Game Message) politely asking them to stop, some will others wont, be sure to include a heading to your post or many people will ignore it.
If you explain that you are new to Travian and you ask them why they are attacking, you will find that most people will give you advice, there is also a very good chance that they will offer to protect you and help you as you develop, I gained a very powerful ally on my first server this way.

Travian is a game of balancing the building of villages, buildings, resources and troops, I will add a guide on how to develop a defensive first village later, a defensive roll will give you a good insight into Travian and will give you a good understanding of attack for your next server, watch this space.
